Weekly Weigh-In / Fit Report – July 28th, 2016 – 5×5 Workout A/B/A

Well, someone has been slacking on his blog posting as of late. And by someone, I mean me. I’ve been to the gym three times (including today) since last Thursday’s weigh-in, but I’ve spaced on writing my blog post each time. I guess it’s because I’ve basically rushed to the gym, worked out and rushed home to continue the renovations. I’ve really not had any kind of downtime to do anything in. And yet the reno continues…

But, today is weigh-in day, so blogging it is. I guess all the physical labour of the WWI_2016_07_28renovations is having an effect on me, because I’m down another 1.4 lbs this week to 161.6 lbs, which, quite frankly, is blowing my mind. Who knew carrying heavy buckets of plaster and lath downstairs and full sheets of drywall upstairs was such a good workout? My body water is identical to last week as well, so I can actually make a comparison of the numbers. For the first time since I started back working out, my Body Fat % is below 20% (at least according to the scale – some day I wouldn’t mind getting my body fat % done accurately).

I’m actually getting close to my all-time low body weight. If I stay on track, I could hit that by the end of the summer, potentially. That being said, it’s just a number, and at some point I’m going to pay less attention to the scale and more attention to the way clothes fit and how my body looks in the mirror. After all, muscle weighs more that fat…

Speaking of muscle, I have three workouts to post. I still haven’t reached failure on any of the exercises so far. I’m happy to say that I’ve finally moved up to having a nicely mid-sized 25 lb plate on either side of the bar for my squat now, so I don’t feel quite so wussy. My bench press is still pretty light weight, but the overhead press is actually requiring effort these days. Still not difficult, but not a cakewalk either. Deadlift and barbell row are going well, too. Happy to say that neutral back position for those two is starting to become second nature, and I don’t have to think about it too much anymore.
