Well, it finally happened. Weight gain. 0.8 lbs of it.
Strangely, I’m okay with it. And the reason I’m okay with it is because it’s water. I’m a bit better hydrated, even if I haven’t lost any fat in the last week. My Total Body Water has gone up by 0.6 lbs, and my Fat Free Mass has gone up by 0.8 lbs, while my Fat Mass has stayed exactly the same. Potentially, that means I’ve put on 0.2 lbs of muscle in the last week. Go me?
Seriously, though, this is the first blip I’ve had since I started back at the gym, and I’m not going to beat myself up over it. Next week is supposed to be nice weather, so biking to work will be an option again, and I’m not really doing anything wrong. Still, it would’ve been nice to see that curve keep heading down, y’know?
On to the workout. I’m finally back at my former maximum pace on the treadmill. It was an okay run, even if my legs felt tired and I was a bit winded. I might, just might, increase my speed a bit more before raising the treadmill incline. That’s a question for next week, though.
As for Fit Fix, I tried my modified order on the last few leg and shoulder exercises and I think it was more productive. I sandwiched the lat pulldowns and seated row between the leg press, hip adductions and abductions, and I think it gave my back just that little bit of recovery time I needed. I almost got in the full second set of lat pulldowns, and managed to add two more reps to the seated row. Not two full sets, but progress nonetheless. I’ll take it.
I’m back up to my previous max weight on many of these exercises now. I’m actually going to raise my weight on the leg extensions next time, as the two sets felt easy enough today that I think I should push on. No sense staying static when I could be trying for more.
Tomorrow I’m meeting a friend for lunch, so no workout, but the weather looks good, so I may bike into work. We’ll have to see what the morning brings.
