Daily Dish – May 2nd, 2011 – Election Night Special

elections canada ballot boxWell, it’s Election Day here in the Great White North. What originally started out as a “this isn’t going to change anything, it’s going to be the same result as last time, why the heck are we doing this” campaign looks to have completely changed around in the last couple of weeks, and now everyone is actually sitting around waiting for the results. And no one can really predict at this point what the result will be. Of course, while doing my civic duty I’m always reminded of this wonderful piece of comedy gold:

If only our elections were so interesting.

Fortunately, polls around here don’t close until 9:30 pm, so most people wouldn’t even have to take the 3 hours off work employers are required to give by law to get out and vote. Being able to vote after work meant I didn’t have to leave early, and I could still manage to get in a workout at lunch.

Today was also our first Meatless Monday since I finished my April monthly challenge. Well thought out, that. One day of eating meat and then back to vegetarianism for a day. 🙂 Oh well, no such restrictions tomorrow, so we’ll probably end up having our first chicken dinner in over a month. Tonight, however, we got bean and cheese burritos from Burrito Boyz as our post-election treat. Very tasty burritos, but definitely a sometimes food. Read on for today’s full menu.
